Orange County Team Takes Top National Honors


PHOENIX (March 14, 2005) - Though workshops began a day earlier, the 8th National Special Needs Team Roadeo got the 14th National Conference and Exhibition on Transporting Students with Disabilities and Preschoolers off to a literal roll with repeat winners from Florida.

The Orange County Public Schools transportation department in Orlando, Fla., added to its trophy case as its driver-aid team of Ed Lipsey and Ann England bested 24 other teams of special needs bus drivers and assistants from 11 states and the District of Columbia. The event, organized by Edupro Group and NAPT and sponsored by Sure-Lok, Inc., was held March 12 event at Chandler Unified School District transportation yard.

Brothers Antonio and Joel Nino from San Benito (Texas) Independent School District finished second, followed by Clayton Terry and Shelly Johnson from Cypress (Texas) ISD.

Others states represented were: Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, and Utah.
